Most young kids into metal these days consider bands like CRADLE OF FILTH and DIMMU BORGIR the forefront
motivators of the Black Metal movement. However, in reality they are basically melodic Death Metal bands
with a Black Metal image. Don't get me wrong, I love both bands but I wouldn't put them in the same category
of Nordic Style Black Metal with DARKTHRONE, BURZUM, JUDAS ISCARIOT, CLANDESTINE BLAZE, GORGOROTH & ABYSSIC HATE.
Unfortunately, most of the Black Metal coming out these days reflect the same styles of the two bands listed
at the beginning of this review. With that said, SIN ORIGIN have gone against the grain of "new style" Black Metal
and created a CD full of depression and misery. This four song, sixty minute official demo is like a chaotic walk
through a dark forest. With grim, cold atmospheric production like early Darkthrone, epic song lengths like
Abyssic Hate, and fast & furious (but innovative) riffage and drumming like Judas Iscariot, this CD is sure to
please all "old school" Black Metal fans.
With each of the four songs clocking in at around 15 minutes, the two comprising corpse painted members create
non-stop mayhem with such precision and brutality, one wouldn't think that SIN ORIGIN is a part of the miniscule
American Black Metal Underground, but from the cold, gloomy mountains of Scandinavia. If you are a true fan of
old school Black Metal, pick up "Night Aeternal" and thank SIN ORIGIN for keeping the evil spirit alive!
