Regeneration is the first album that I have heard from these Spanish power metal warriors.
The band had three albums prior to this with a different singer (or singers). From the opening title track I was blown away by the sheer vocal power of new singer Ron Finn, whose previous work was with an 80s band called Mace. Finn is almost a dead ringer for Jeff Hawks(Artch), and at times hitting high notes that are reminiscent of Bruce Dickinson. Tracks like "Stranger", "Where Angels Fly", and my album favorite "Goliath" remind me of early era Steel Prophet. The band showoff a great ability of storytelling in tracks "Spectre Of Sorrow" and "World Is Coming Down".
Regeneration does come with its weaknesses however, as it seems that the band runs out of ideas midway through the songs. Easy Rider show that they have the talent and ability, so I don't think they should rely on groove metal elements as filler on some tracks. I believe this release will be a good stepping stone in the right direction. Hopefully Ron Finn will stay on board, the songwriting will continue to be fresh, and the band will focus on tighter direction. If they can do these things, then I'll be really excited about the next one. --Reviewed by EC 1.22.03
