Ill Nino has always been somewhat of an enigma for me. They are classified as metal, but at times there are very strong pop undertones in their choruses and songs that throw me for a loop. However, all that aside, I've been a fan of theirs for a while. "Till Death, La Familia" is another incredibly catchy and heavy album with songs that are a terrific blend of aggressiveness, melody and hook that together create a cocktail that is incredibly addictive. Vocalist Cristian Machado's screams are infectious and venomous and his clean voice is just damn good. To go along with the vocal mix, the riffs alternate from heavy, frantic chugging to melodically mellow to suit the song. There are so many quality tracks to choose from on this album, it's hard to pick a favorite or a standout, but if I were forced to, I'd have to go with "Payaso" as it is so infectious and has a great chorus that you can sing along to at the drop of a hat. Also, the tribal feel of the drums on the track are a welcome addition and the deciding factor in this being my favorite track. The production is really crisp and hits all the right notes to bring out each song's individual qualities.
