For some this group of 70's stars--Bobby Rondinelli (Blue Oyster Cult), new vocalist Mike DiMeo (Riot), Randy Pratt, Patrick Klein and their 'geezer rock' just doesn't pack the punch the modern age needs, but what the new millenium youngsters could use is a good dose of the dynamics that these experienced guys bring to the game. Their image is a bit flowery, but musically they're sure-footed and consistent with the bluesy-groove of the first two tracks, the slower dirge of 'Down' and the sweetly soft 'Rising Star'. The jam-oriented 'Hyperspace' sees them breakout some some cool harmonica and funk is the lesson of 'Dark Matter'. with 'We Are Dinosaurs' the band even takes a little time to play homage to (poke fun at) their own lengthy history. I would've liked to have heard a couple really bombastic number ala Led Zeppelin, but these guys go back just a bit furthur with a leisurely, but not too lava lamp loungey medium-paced set which is probably the hardest to make work.

About this Writer: Frank Hill // Frank Hill has been at this site since its slimy, crying birth in '03. He was born on National Metal Day--11/11 and will turn his hearing aids up to 11 when he's 111. He secretly listens to a lot of old Country and Doo-Wop tunes and wants to start a cyberband with lead vocals by Robot Plant. He is still trying to figure out what Judas Priest meant by "paratamize you". If you read this, then he salutes you.
