Denmark's Mercenary is back and out for blood with their latest release--Through Our Darkest Days. This album is by far my favorite since 11 Dreams. From the outset the band comes straight for your throat with a monster opening song called A New Day. The vocals are an impeccable mix of clean, power metal style vocals and growl vocals. The guitar work is pure metal and melts your face off like you went in for a fresh waxing at a hair salon.
From start to finish this album delivers pure polished heavy metal at its best. After a few disappointing releases for this reviewer, I was totally caught off guard by this album. It definitely has a more aggressive feel than previous releases and shows the band headed back towards the top once again. "Dreamstate Machine", "Starving Eyes" and "Through Our Darkest Days" round out the tracks that really stood out to me. Each of these tracks represent the band at its utmost best and are tracks that will have you throwing up the horns in homage to the Dark Lord himself. Do yourself a favor and go out and buy this record today. You won't be sorry you did.
