Tombs
The Grand Annihilation
Company: Metal Blade
Release: 2017
Genre: Death
Reviewer: Greg Watson

Another death metal release that just putters along
COMMENTS:
In the swamp of death metal, so many bands are just left stagnating and unable to break free. Tombs is one of the bands in there and on the fringe of breaking free of the chaotic clutter. The majority of 'The Grand Annihilation' is standard DM throughout. There are moments where the band utilizes some cleaner sounding guitar tones and some almost poppy drum cadences that have this way of snapping you out of the drudgery and repetition and get you thinking a change is coming only to drop you right back to the DM doldrums. Nothing groundbreaking here but things could be promising moving forward depending on the band's direction.
