When it comes to death metal, Phylactery offers up nothing new here. The riffs are ones I've heard before in countless other bands and the lyrics feel haphazard. The music at least provides some enjoyment, when you're able to hear it. The production is like a wall of mud encased in soundproofing and barely lets anything come through clearly. While this isn't one of the worst things I've heard, there really isn't anything blowing me away on this release.
