You can teach an old dog new tricks
Jorge Juraschek is the last remaining member of Germany's Warrant. The band began in 1983 and released their debut, 'The Enforcer', in 1985. Nearly thirty years later that album receives it's follow-up record in 'Metal Bridge' via Pure Steel. Where the 80s version of the act was a speed metal donnybrook, this aged version shows us a more mature effort. The arrangements are slower with more rigid riffs and grooves while Juraschek has improved drastically as a vocalist. "Don't Get Mad Get Even" and "Nyctophobia" are consistent mid-tempo offerings that are arranged with addictive chorus parts and Juraschek's sharp vocal presence. "Helium Head" is a more modern sensibility, a faster cut that develops from thrash to power metal while wrapped in an alternative delivery. Overall 'Metal Bridge' does not disappoint and proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
