Australia's Portal have released their 5th full-length album of terrifying blackened death metal and its hella creepy. Much like their previous four albums, you can expect lightning-fast, discordant riffs, simple (but effective) drumming, and horrifying whisper-like vocals. However, the major thing that stands out is the superior production. Muddy production has always plagued Portal up to this point, but 'Ion' is almost a work of perfection! Standout songs include "Phreqs", "Revault Of Volts", and "Old Guarde". Portal continues to impress with another consistent extreme metal masterpiece! Don't pass on this one.
