I have always enjoyed Into Eternity since their debut release came out back in 2001 and when I heard the new album was finally coming out, I was anxiously awaiting its release date. I immediately fired up 'The Sirens' and as the title track began playing, I thought to myself "I waited ten years for this?" Musically the band hasn't lost a step at all and new vocalist Amanda Kiernan turns in a solid performance. But the production on this album, with the drums specifically, was just mind boggling. The guitars drowned out almost everything, including Kiernan's vocals at times. The most glaring issue from production was the drums which sounded like padded garbage cans being whipped about. I also felt that the vocals didn't really fit with the songs. You have these speedy, technically proggy riffs swirling about with cleaner power metal vocals being woven in. It just felt a bit disjointed honestly. As much as I was looking forward to this album, the listening experience was nothing short of disappointing.
