Alright this London based band threw me for a loop. I must admit that it was my own assumption that did me in, but the loop I was thrown was a good one. Upon seeing the name of the band I figured this would be another grindcore band and another CD of monotonous riffs and guttural growls. Man was I wrong about this one. The CD starts out with a kick ass instrumental full of crunching, groove laden riffs. When the first song kicks in I am already hooked. Then the vocals come in and I am absolutely floored by how much this sounds like Tom Araya coming through the speakers at me. As the album progresses through songs like "Vengeance" and "The Blood Flow" the vocals go from a spectrum of voices ranging from Slayer to Motorhead to Mortician.
I swear that the third track on the album "Prophecy of Destruction" has Lemmy Kilmister himself singing but that isn't the case. Musically this album is really tight and sounds damn good. The riffs are headbanging friendly and the drums and bass fill in nicely to bring it all together. The guitars sound like most from a Slayer album without some of the speed and ferociousness present that Slayer pulls off. The most interesting song on the album is the song "Albert Fish" about the real life cannibal of the same name. The song content is just what I would have expected on a grindcore album so I feel a little redeemed with that song. But this album really surprised me with its content and the music. The only complaint I have with the album is with the length of the songs. Most of them are 2 to 2:40 in length and just leaves me wanting more. While that may be what the band was going for, I still wish the songs were just a little longer to satisfy my craving. If you can track this CD down give it a listen I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
