Ghost Machinery are a Finnish trio, born in 2002 from a combination of Wildcard members Jussi Ontera (drums/keys), Tapsa Pelkonen (bass), and Burning Point member Pete Ahonen (guitar/vocals). After recording a five song promo CD to shop to record labels in 2003, they signed with Sound Riot Records for a two album deal. The first album in this deal is "Haunting Remains" and it holds a lot of promise. Fans of sounds encompassed by bands like Edguy/Avantasia or Lost Horizon will be
pleased with the dramatic, symphonic beauty of tracks like "Blinded Eyes" and "Evil Within Us". Vocally, Ahonen seems better suited for more progressive fare, ala James LaBrie (Dream Theater), but he works through it and his guitar work on this album is impeccable. My overall opinion is that for fans of power metal, Ghost Machinery is a band to watch. The material takes you to a place outside of the ordinary world, and for a power metal fan, there's no better place to be.
