Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

  • An album that most metal bands dream of releasing

  • Warbringer is now out!

I have three words to say about this release first off: pure fucking enjoyment! I have been a fan of Warbringer since their inception and have been anxiously drooling over the arrival of this album. I listened to the album three times through to get a good feel and I can say after multiple listens, this is the album that will define Warbringer. From the beginning of the opening track "Horizon", it's clear Warbringer have honed their skills and are poised to take the thrash throne for themselves. "Horizon" starts off with a seemingly laid back, beautiful acoustic intro. In 39 seconds the ambience is shattered by a metal shriek belonging to John Kevill. After the scream subsides, the band kicks in with their brand of thrash and immediately sets to separate your neck from your shoulders.

Throughout the album, you are tossed around like a piece of raw hamburger thrown into a pack of rabid wolves. The album is a complete masterpiece from beginning to end. The song "One Dimension" with its anthemic chorus and punk-tinged thrash is sure to become a live show staple now and for future shows. "Hunter-Seeker" is an absolute rager that puts its foot to your throat and shows no sign of letting up. "Iron City" while a humorous track about drinking beer is still a quality song that can stand up to any of the other tracks on the album. The album wraps up with "Towers of the Serpent", a song full of all the thrash elements that make this band what they are and proves that this band is the real deal.

This album has not stopped playing since I received it and I see no way that it will be replaced for some time. This is an album that most metal bands dream of releasing. It's groundbreaking, elevating and a surefire album to catapult this band to the top. This is an absolute must own for all metalheads out there. As if that weren't enough, following the release the band will embark on a short tour of the states supporting thrash legends Kreator and Overkill. This band kills it live and this is definitely a bill to spend some good, hard earned money on to see.

Do yourself a favor...put down your controller and shut off GTA 5 and Batman and pick this up. You will thank the metal gods for ages that you have this album in your collection.
