Track Listing1. Monolithe II |
Well to be perfectly honest about it, I just don't know when I would ever sit down and play this. Sure, it sounds fashionable and it seems like a real spacey journey, but let's just call a spade a spade. When are you honestly going to sit down and play fifty plus minutes of trance music with very little variation or identity? Monolithe is upon us again, this time with a follow-up to their 2003 debut "Monolithe I". This time around we get one song clocking in at close to an hour, with no stopping and no seperate tracks. Edge Of Sanity did it, Opeth did it, and now Monolithe is trying their hand at it.
This is going to appeal to fans of My Dying Bride, Anathema, Grief, and Morgion. The band have smooth, slow paced riffs that built to a creepy crawly rhythm that does little in the way of keeping me awake. For the more progressive and doomy minded fans out there, Monolithe just might be the cure to their cancer. For me, I need a bit more shake, rattle, and roll.
Bottom Line - Doom metal for the most hardcore enthusiast. This is not your stoner rock type of staple, with more weeping, slow paced agendas in place.
