Ensoph is a band that has a style that may be hard to swallow for many metalheads. With a mixture of goth, industrial, the early 90's European metal vibe, and a surprising blend of modern extreme metal, Ensoph present a unique blend of metal that is not easily accessible. However, that is not a bad thing considering how boring and unoriginal a lot of extreme metal bands are these days. Unfortunately, for these metal ears, this style has come and gone with the early likes of Rammstein. On the contrary, there are some great metal moments here especially on tracks such as Kirillow's Bullet and Holy Bleeds and Pain, Pride & Regrets. These tracks as well as a few other "stand-outs", have a great blend of vocals, ranging from Narrative-like speech, Black Metal screeches, and even hints of "Into the Pandemonium" era Celtic Frost gutteral tones. One thing that really stands out on the negative side is the bad English accent on the clean vocals. For those of you that really dig listening to the vocals and words, may be annoyed with this. The good thing is, the vokills on this CD rule and should be used more often than what they are. The bottom line is that this CD is not that bad and anyone with an open mind for something different should give Ensoph a listen or two. Themore extreme parts on this CD sound really good and tight with the volume cranked up! For fans of brutal death metal and ice cold black metal from the freezing north, you may want to think twice before giving this release a shot.
6 out of 10 on the Grim Gaijin metal fist scale!!!
