Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

  • A blast to the auditory system

  • From the tiny island of Cyprus, Blynd delivers crushing death/thrash/groove metal on their latest release, Punishment Unfolds. The band's sound has a bit of Swedish death and old school thrash melded together; a blast to the auditory system sure to leave your ears bleeding. Vocally Andreas has a great mix of death grunts and thrash barks that add that extra bit of venom and spite to each song.

The guitar work of George and Dino is incredible and dead on. The solos on each track are fluid, fast and seriously well executed. Each track has riffs and breakdowns that will have you banging your head hard enough to make the devil take note. Andreas and Alex provide some groove as well as a heavy back end rhythm section to complete the sound and let you hear what a perfectly, well-oiled metal machine sounds like.

Throughout the album the band delivers solid, hard hitting thrash and offers up a album sure to satiate appetites worldwide. Standout tracks on the album are "Arrival of the Gods", "Convicted in the Devil's Land" and "The Final Resistance". The band is on tour now with Cradle of Filth and is sure to be taking the metal world by storm. Make sure you have a copy in your collection and allow the punishment to unfold!
