Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Imagine turning on your radio and stumbling across 'Jailbreak'-era AC/DC. You're catching them in their prime... fresh and energetic, hard-rockin' and fun! Now freeze that moment in time, package it, and label it Supagroup.

This isnt to blow the New Orleans-based quartet off as yet, ANOTHER AC/DC clone. Far from it! Vocalist/rhythm guitarist Chris Lee, his younger brother and lead guitarist Benji Lee, drummer Michael Brueggen, and bassist Leif Robinson Swift have taken the formula that made AC/DC one of the most legendary of all hard rock bands and put a whole new sheen to it.

'Rules' is Supagroup's third release. The opening track, 'Ready to Go' is quite appropriate. It's a high-energy rocker and there's little room to catch your breath from here on out. Tracks like 'Bastard' and my personal favorite, 'It Takes Balls', will have all the old school AC/DC fans cheering in the aisles, while tunes like 'Let's Go (Get Wasted)' and 'Ruling (Is its Own Reward)' will have them agreeing that this is a case of the students surpassing the teacher.

Some fans of heavier music have forgotten what it is to have fun with rock. If you're one of those that looks for oh-so serious political commentary and radical world views in the lyrical content of your music, you're: A) possibly so tight-assed that you couldnt drive a pin up there with a jackhammer, and B) probably not going to fully appreciate the humor of Supagroup.
This is a band of guys that truly enjoy themselves and the music they're making. They're not out to change world policy or strike terror in the hearts of third world dictators. They just want to rock and have fun doing it.

So far, so good, guys.
