Dutch black metal outfit Cirith Gorgor return with their first new album in 5 years, 'Visions of Exalted Lucifer'. The band was formed in 1993 and it seems that is where their sound is rooted, the apex period for the genre. It seems as though these tracks were plucked right out of that period when there was so much quality black metal being produced. The problem with 'Visions' though is that it lacks vision. It's very one dimensional with no variation or change in the song structures. It sounds like one continuous track that seems to beg for a little something more. The production is raw and muddied, a staple of that 90's era extreme sound.
