Truly something for everyone who digs on any kind of power metal
While spinning this one in my disc player above my head, I did my usual research and what, to my surprise did I see--vocals by Lance King. For those who have been under a rock someplace, his resume includes Defyance, The Kings Machine, Balance of Power, Pyramaze and others. Ok, back this truck up a bit, aren't Shining Star a Brazilian power metal group? I guess with a resume as impressive as King's, the quartet did not have to look very far to find the right vocal fit. Lance King is not only a vocal genius but he is also a record executive, founding Nightmare Records in 1990. Its original inception was to distribute his then band Gemini. Still a small label from Minnesota, King distributes and promotes acts in the Power genre, as well as Progressive and Christian Metal. Enter Eternity begins with heavy keyboards, very melodic riffs, great drum beats, and superb vocals? The flurry continues track by track. Although lyrically, the songwriting is rather simplistic, make no mistake about it, the musianship proves to be anything but simplistic, including intricate solo works in every song. Although the song does have a great guitar solo and does change tempos, the lone ballad rather bores me. But one bad song out of 10 is not too shabby! For fans who love vocal styling of Bruce Dickinson (Solo and Iron Maden), or Geoff Tate (Queensryche), or if you love fast and melodic music ala DragonForce, this is you cup of tea. Truly something for everyone who digs on any kind of power metal.
