Germany's blender metal 101 gets the full video treatment from SPV in the form of a fantastic DVD package entitled "Lords Of Depravity Part 1". Fans of the raw, cracked brain speed fests will find plenty to like here including twenty-two live performances of the band showcasing material from their long and much respected discography. Along with Kreator and Destruction, Sodom are really one of the founding "pioneers" of the Euro-thrash market. With blistering thunderbolts of unbridled fury and metal passion, this band carries on and carries forth with album after album of undying thrashing mayhem.
"Lords Of Depravity" is the ultimate tribute to Sodom's career, showcasing the band's live performances through countless hours of concert footage. With each track presented here you get to see the band playing said track in several different venues. I have personally never seen that type of format brought to a metal video release. It is interesting to see each track shown on different stages throughout the song, really displaying a full spectrum of where this band has been and where they are going. Along with the extraordinary concert footage comes three promo videos for "Ausgebombt", "Silence Is Consent", and "Die Stumme Ursel". With so many musical features it is surprising that the label also includes a 180 minute documentary on the band with many behind the scenes segments that really captures the true essence of this legendary act.
Bottom Line - A very informative and entertaining look at a true metal icon. May the underground shake, rattle, and role with the denim and leather sonic waves of Sodom. SPV, keep the spotlight shining on the old school...they will never lead us astray.
