Bone crushing death metalWhenever I am given material from labels that I've never heard of or that I've been given warning about, I enter into the experience with a little trepidation. As the title track for My Own Grave's album started, I began to think that I was going to have a very short listen on my hands.
However, as the first notes of "Necrology" begin reverberating through my speakers, I was hooked. While this may sound like typical death metal to most, I was pulled in by the vocals of Mikael Aronsson. I don't know how to describe it other than full of venom and emotion. You can feel that he puts the emotion into his singing.
The musicanship on the album is pretty tight with the trio of Anders Härén on guitar, Max Bergman on bass and John Henriksson on drums. This quartet blasts out a quality, head banging dose of death metal. Filled with blood soaked lyrics, crushing guitar riffs and blast beats to satisfy even the most brutal death metal fan.
The album progresses quite nicely with very little feeling of repetition. There are a few songs that sound similar but that is usually par for the course with this genre. Overall though this album is a damn fine piece of death metal.
For those of you metal heads that are looking for something to pulverize your bones into dust, look no further. My Own Grave delivers a bone crushing death metal release with "Necrology". Go online or to your local metal store to pick up your copy now to begin the aural assault that this album will deliver to your metal craving system.
