Old school feel but doesn't offer up much in the way of new ideas
By playing a style that is in a state of stagnation, going back in time is either a blessing or a damning sentence. With Overoth, while the death metal they play is on point, it really doesn't do much to advance the genre and sounds a bit dated. I get that the band loves old school death metal, its apparent throughout the album that is the case. But if I wanted to listen to old school death metal then I'll listen to the bands that were playing it then. I would love to hear something different or even a slight deviation in this genre. If you want a blanket of nostalgia, this one is right up your alley.
