With their previous effort Mechanical Spin Phenomena (2003), Mnemic put Denmark onto the metal map with comparisons to hybrid bands like Fear Factory. Without a trace of the old-school, Mnemic forge their steel in the electronic furnaces of brutality and ultra-precision pounding the listener with tight drums, bleak guitars, sampled sounds and the melodic refrains of the newer version of In Flames. Michael Bøgballe growls over propelled bass distortion like the currently trendy New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, but with the polished metallics of the future. Although it doesn't feel personally friendly, Mnemic effectively stradles the modern industrial and the current NWOAHM.
Self Indulgence: A decent cover of Duran Duran's "Wild Boys".
Score: 7.5
Bottom Line: 'Fusion Future Metal' that I call 'Industrial'. Perfect for fans of heavy modern metal though I didn't find it quite as heavy as Slipknot's "Iowa" or the current Fear Factory it'll keep you bangin' throughout.
