This group hails from Denmark and has been around for about five years. "Mechanical Spin Phenomena" is the band's first album after two self financed demos that landed the band on Nuclear Blast Records. This group combine hardcore elements of Propain and Pissing Razors with the Swedish death scene of In Flames and Arch Enemy. I guess this sort of thing would have been somewhat interesting in the mid to late 90s, but now its as common as the cell phone. Boring, useless tracks like "DB'XX'D" just go through the motions, with plenty of groove riffing, machine like double bass, and generic "you make me sick" rumblings from vocalist Michael. "The Naked And The Dead" does a great job ripping off Pantera while the title track runs through Crowbar's discography. This is metal for teeny boppers who want that heavy vibe on the way to the nearest shopping mall. I'm sure this type of album would be great for the gym or even a pre-game locker room ritual. Fans of Pissing Razors and Diesel Machine may find something to like here. Anyone with a brain will dismiss this one and just move on. --EC 01.06.04 ALL REVIEWS FOR: MNEMIC
