BM meets shoegaze in this album that deals with a person becoming a tree
Germany's Nemus offer up one of the more intriguing concept albums I've heard in a while with 'Wald-Mensch'. Conceptually, the album deals with an individual out taking a nap in the woods, only to be pulled under the earth and brought back as a tree. It's one of the strangest concepts I've ever heard of. But strangeness aside, this album is a great listen. Taking some cues from classic black metal and mixing in elements of shoegaze, I was nodding along to the slower paced riffs and shredding some serious air when the tempo picked up. The album is entirely in German so I had to look for a translation of the songs but even without that, just listening to the album, you can feel the story progress based on the emotive and powerful vocals. Definitely a different feel for black metal but it's a feel I'm totally good with.
