Epic, melodic doom featuring former Pagan Altar guitarist Vince Hempstead. However, the performance that sticks out most is that of Simon Stanton, whose vocals bear an uncanny resemblance to Messiah Marcolin. Leif Edling could have saved himself some anguish if he knew this guy! Joking aside, the music fits the bill too, but with a greater emphasis on melody in the guitar work. Production is warm and clear, and there's no sign of the sludgy, downtuned riffs often found in doom nowadays. Not much new here (and damn, is that spoken intro silly!), but it's done with taste and skill. If you miss late '80's Candlemass, but wouldn't mind something a tad less sloth-like, you can't go wrong with this.
