Hailing from Melbourne Australia Greystone Canyon mix hard rock and heavy metal with a strong emphasis on tone, feel and fire. The debut album While the wheels still Turn was tracked at Goatsound studios Melbourne and then mixed in Montreal, Canada by none other than Grammy nominated producer Glen Robinson who has engineered, mixed and produced bands such as Queensryche, Annihilator and Voivod to name but a few.
This is one weird fucking band. There's an identity crisis here, with the look indicating it's some sort of hard rock western/Southern metal thing, with the PR mentioning BLS. I can't make heads or tails of it. Vocally, it's smooth and clean with a decent amount of melody. Musically it's a mess of thrash riffs, which may be why it's compared to Megadeth. Utterly confusing sound, and I'm all in for innovation and change...but this is baffling stuff. I don't know whether to love it, hate it or just file it away with the other 14,897 albums that came out this month.
