Brutality without looking too deep
Dirt - Dirt - 2005
Hailing from Houston, Texas heavy metal band Dirt was formed in 93 by bassist Rick Wiggins. Their first release From Dirt We Come, produced by Dez from Devil Driver fame, gained acclaim and led to a tour of the US touring with other Texas thrashers such as Pissing Razors. After a year of touring Dirt has started work on there second release 'Ashes to Ashes', which was due for release end 2004.
This isn't going to be one for the elitists; this is an album that will appeal to the masses. If bands like Hatebreed, Devildriver and Killswitch Engage ring a tune for you then you are gonna like the brutality without looking too deep into the more technical attributes of metal. I found it as enjoyable as getting a blowjob off my sister, took me a bit to get into it, then I was loving it, then I was having second thoughts. In other words, I would buy it, listen to it for a month, and then go into my CD cupboard with Poison the Well and Eighteen Visions.
I recommend borrowing a friend's (the cd not his sister) for a week and if you still feel "cool" about it then go and give these guys a couple of bucks and listen to it loud. I would advocate seeing these lads at a live performance; they would probably go off like Nailer's mother on Tequila and you would be ripped up for days after, ears bleeding and neck broken.
