Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Wow. What can you really say? This band is called Assrockers and they hail from the city of Washington DC. Their new EP, entitled "All Inputs" has just been released on Living Room Records. I discovered this band while researching some newer doom bands through several stoner rock links.

Assrockers play down and dirty hard rock, mixed with a good dose of doomy substance. I really don't have a problem with the music on this release, sounding pretty top notch Kiss running through the streets of 90s sleaze glam. "Loosen Up" is somewhat like Buckcherry, with "Satan Built My Hotrod (I'm not joking) pretty much continuing the same vibe. I enjoy these songs, but I like the more doom oriented tracks like "Et Tu Brute" and the Manowar themed "Thor".

This band has alot of good things going for them, but the vocalist, Bison Roughbottom, is simply terrible. He has no business holding a microphone for this band. I would love to hear a vocalist that goes over the top with this material. The vocals that exist on this record can't even be taken seriously, almost monotone in delivery with no emotion or care whatsoever.

Roughbottom, get some vocal training, or change your "gimmick". Your band is pushing out some well played hard rock thunder. Step it up a notch and join them.
