Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

As my first entry to this band, this album brings to mind visions of Mr. Bungle, Dillenger Escape Plan, and Hole set adrift on a raft in the ocean, left to fight it out to see who will get to eat the other two. There is plenty of chaos as regards to the song structure with each running the gamut from crushing bursts of grind paired with fairly poppy snippets. NOt all of the songs meet up again at the end, but I have always given much respect to those bands who have the tenacity to bring together such disparate musical styles and not sound foolish in doing so. The musicianship is solid on each band members part and their conviction is a big selling point for me with this album. The riffs and such are not difficult in a straighforward, technical way, but the arrangements themselves more than make the songs fairly technical pieces.
This is not a darkly themed album by any means. With humor floating in and out of several songs, I believe they do not take themselves too seriously, only their artistic ambition. No matter which way your musical stylings may lean, you will find something on this album to suit you, although that something may be a 20 second bit from one track, or if you are like me, the whole damn album. Some standout out tracks are the aptly named (don't ask) Sherman Tank-Flavored Anvil Forcefeedings for it's intensity and Persuasive, a somewhat mellower track, as if Grandpa had gotten half his dose of Prozac and Xanax, still a bit looney but good enough to be out in public.
