Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

House of Shakira was introduced to me on a late night radio show that I am addicted to, and is most intriguing band to me. They are from the 90’s but play like they were meant to be in the 80’s. Im a huge fan of metal music, and hair band music, and they remind me of that. The song Method of madness has one of the simplest chorus’ ever yet its still catchy. If you can say Hi you know the chorus, but when it comes to the lyrics it just fits just so magically.

Every song is different and has a different meaning and beat to it. No: 8 is a very sad song, speaking about loving someone the wrong way, like it was a love that wasn’t meant to be. Or the loss of a loved one, that they can not accept. Whichever way you perceive it, its great. The guitar in it fits so perfectly, like it was just meant to be like bread and butter.

“Who’s lying now, is a great rock sound, reminds me a lot of def Leppard on their very first album, First Strike, where they were just singing and rock and rolling in a basement, sometimes that is the best sound. I also love the drums in this song, they bring the song alive, even though it’s a very simple drum pattern, its what makes the song come alive.

Another rocking song is Love was good. Its heavy with guitar and drum work, and is amazing when its all together, the lyrics themselves are simple and thoughtful, they come alive when you litsen to them.

House of Shakira is a Swedish rock band, that truly is just that a rock band. They have the mixings of great music and of talent, that will bring them far in their career choice. it’s a very unique sound, one you don’t hear very often anymore.
