Featuring former members of Sonic Syndicate, “Lust and Loathing” is the band's strongest release to date. The vocals might throw some people off a bit, given their harshness and rawness compared to the almost angelic quality of the cleans and the delicate guitar solos paired with hook laden keyboard work. But that formula works and really is pulled together by that massive production sound that the Scandinavians have so deftly mastered. The shift between the death and clean vocals is seamless and really helps lend a multi-dimensional aspect to the songs. Tracks like "Enraged", "King of Clubs" and "Heartseeker" are the best examples of this. These songs are dynamic in sound, genius in structure and catchy as hell. The album itself is one big dollop of catchiness with very strong songwriting helping push things along. There are riffs galore that will get you banging your head and vocals that will have you singing at the top of your lungs when you think no one is listening or around. The production as previously mentioned is just a massive effort that ties everything together in an incredible final product that oozes slickness and polish. One of the big surprises for me in the latest batch of albums I've gotten, "Lust and Loathing" is impressive and a much anticipated album from these Swedes. Kudos on a job well done lads.
