An enjoyable view at the edge of the world

Heralding a new sound with a palatable aftertaste is the new release by Godhead, "At the Edge of the World". For the tried and true fan, this release is a perfect mixture of Godhead’s musical roots with a bit of flag down that the band is still crafting their sound. Having been at it for 14+ years, it’s a welcome respite from the rehash that other bands depend on. Comprised of new material and remixes, the cd has a lush quality.

Formed in 1994 under the early moniker Blind, Godhead flew under the musical radar for a few years before getting noticed by Marilyn Manson and signing to Posthuman Records in 2001. This deal resulted in their breakthrough release "2000 Years of Human Error". Following the six degrees of separation, this is how we make it in the music business philosophy; the cd got noticed by Ozzy Osbourne and landed them in the middle of the Ozzfest melee. The rest they say is history; as the present and future is a far better indicator of how Godhead has developed artistically with "At the Edge of the World" being the new calling card.

Godhead's music has long been characterized as a mixture of dramatic gothic rock, industrial metal with a backdrop soundscape and while this still holds true in terms of their roots, their latest release is less industrial and programmed sounding and comes at you with a rush and a push. The spotless, deep vocal talents of lead vocalist and guitarist Jason C Miller are truly given a spotlight as is his true to form dark eyeliner lyrical content.

Having gone through more drummers than Spinal Tap, Ty Smith has just joined the band this year and adds a well defined backdrop to the band. Rounding out the band are Mike Miller on guitar and Ullrich "Method" Hepperlin – on bass and programming the latter being almost flawless.
