Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. We rule, we rule the night! With that being said, Midnight Idols does in fact rule the night, with a furious throwback to the old school sounds of the 80s with their debut album. This is the second Seattle band I've heard this month (other being Zero Down) that has dropped a load in my drawers. This band absolutely smokes! At times I'm reminded of the rebel 'tude of early Motley Crue mixed with the German anthems of bands like The Scorpions and Accept. But beyond the power pressed hard rock rumblings comes a bit more glam oriented material, even stopping to drink from the same bars as George and Ted (classic rockers should understand).

From the opening title track Midnight Idols just scorches this gig, laying down a proud pounding metal assault that is sure to please fans of the old school of rock. "Bright Lights, City Dreams" kicks down that long road with a furious assault that is a bit like W.A.S.P meets Def Leppard, with some huge blues chops thrown in for the boogie. "Heartbreak City" is right off of the Sunset Strip, a more sleazy groove that could be more like an LA Guns styled craft. "Light Of The Crimson Moon" levels off of the hard rock, injecting a bit more NWOBHM that recalls everything from Grim Reaper and Saxon to Iron Maiden. Favorite cut for me is the bombastic blues injected "Satan's Son", with the title cut being this month's anthem.

Bottom Line - Buy this, buy this, buy this! Young Seattle boys that know their old school metal! This band is a "livewire" baby!
