Illusive Golden Age
The Artisan Era
Prog tech death that sounds dated but still has something for die hards
The first thing that strikes you about 'Illusive Golden Age' is the fact that the musicianship is top notch. The guitars, drums, and bass take you on a whirlwind ride of technical mastery that is impressive as hell. Even if you listen with a musical ear, it'll be hard to find all the eccentricities and little nuances the band uses. That being said, the album itself really fails to grab you with any noticeable hooks or memorable riffs. It sounds like something that came out a decade or more ago and doesn't really do anything to help itself stand out. If you like your tech death speedy, precise and intricate though, you will definitely find plenty to sink your teeth into with this release.
