Very solid grind release
After almost twelve years of not hearing anything, Czech Republic’s masters of kooky grind return with a strong EP. This beast starts off with some very catchy riffs at hyper speed with great drumming and continues down a path of tightly wound, yet silly, grind. If you’re hoping for the laser sounds of the material from the Czech assault sampler released by Relapse Records, you may be disappointed. However, it’s great to see that even the experiments from this band turn out to be whimsical journeys into the bizarre. One can’t help but feel the groove from the well-formed riffs amidst the three styles of vocals: death, hardcore yells and acidic screams. The middle entry, “Bassima”, is possibly the catchiest thing on the album with its freakish marriage of pop and grindcore. This is a very solid grind release that lived up to my anticipation.
