Greece's Sonic Age Records steps up again, rising to the occasion with a full fistful of metal in the debut offering of Canada's Penetrator. Fans of the classic old school vibe of Anvil, Helstar, and Agent Steel will find necks-a-snappin' with the furious bit of firepower, a strong willed vision of power and glory that really impresses this particular denim and leather ear. Led by axe-man "Bull Dog" Bess Ross (once a tech for Black Sabbath), this "hard on you" four piece deliver sonic aged goods, a thunderous call to irons for metal heads everywhere. With huge, monsterous grooves ala Sabbath crossed with the power/thrash romps of Helstar era "Multiples Of Black", Penetrator drill into the most stubborn of "intelligent modern rock heads", refusing to bend down to corporate levels for power and purpose, instead simply recalling the most precious of metal staples; 80s fine tuned wattage.
With mid-tempo cuts like "Unleash The Fury" and "Adultress" one immediately recalls that blue collar 80s feel. Other efforts like "Guns And Whiskey" bring to life that early 90s aggression, somewhat dishing out the strong grooves of Fight and even early Alice In Chains (?). But beyond the powerful numbers also comes some faster cuts, led by the notorious band signature "Penetrator", a fuel filled burnout of fast paced muscle and falsetto styled vocals. Looking for something a bit stronger than Cage and Imagika? Look no further than this band and this release!
