Beefy production and fat, brutal guitar grooves
Exodus has been on quite a destructive rhythm since they signed with Nuclear Blast, steamrolling out three straight quality thrash cds in a row--Tempo Of The Damned, Shovel Headed Kill Machine and the new The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A. Now, this isn't the "Toxic Waltz" of Exodus' bygone days or the out-of-control, blitzkrieg thrash of current tour openers Warbringer;
this Exodus is controlled, modern thrash that benefits from a beefy production and the fat, brutal guitar grooves that compliment the rough-tinged vocals of Rob Dukes. No doubt producer Andy Sneap's laying on of hands has kept these guys at top level while band members rotate about. It's longer format of songs aren't on the level of this year's Machine Head CD in terms of presenting a new take on the familiar, but Exodus is showing that they can keep up with the times and themselves. Exhibit B, we await.
