Experimental Black Metal that is trippy and quite engrossing
When I see the tag of experimental black metal being given to a band, I never know what to expect going in. With "Toward Akina", Seventh Genocide have delivered an album that is both diverse and engrossing. The band combines searing black metal riffs with psychedelic instrumental passages that are just real trippy and fascinating. The mood of the album is one of emotional ups and downs and really just adds to the overall feel. The production is immaculate and really highlights each instrument and the flow of the album as a whole. Musically, I am just utterly fascinated by the soundscapes that Seventh Genocide play off of each other and the fluid, incredible quality of the more clean, psychedelic passages. I get fully absorbed into those passages and am then shocked back into reality with black metal that is swirling and savage in contrast to the more reserved pieces. I just can't say enough about this album. Definitely a surprise and words won't do this justice so go out and listen to this one on your own, you'll really be glad that you did!
