One man black metal that delivers some really raw, emotional material
The follow up to 2016's "Magic Night", Violet Cold's latest offering 'Anomie' continues to see an evolution of styles and songwriting. The main difference with "Anomie" from prior releases is a much more personal feel to the songs as a whole. Creative force Emin Guliyev really delves deep into the core of his person and pulls out some truly emotive songs that are matched by incredibly well-crafted and composed songs to match the lyrical content. Another big difference is this one will take you a few listens to really absorb everything that 'Anomie' has to offer. Where you could just dive right in to the past releases, it seems clear to me that Guliyev wanted to create an album that you had to immerse yourself into to fully appreciate. That being said, some people will really enjoy listening to this album and others won't have the time or patience. The moniker of black metal or ambient black metal is a bit deceptive as there are all sorts of different styles utilized throughout the album. Experimental metal would probably be a better tag but just good, solid metal is what is contained here on this release. So when you get this album, make sure you have the time to devote to giving it a proper listen so you can experience the album in all its splendor and magic.
