Ordoxe is labeled as a black metal band and I'd like to go ahead and state that is somewhat of a misnomer. They have elements of black metal to them but would fall more in the blackened death metal genre than just traditional black metal. Nitpicking aside, 'Towards Eternity' which is the band's sixth album, provides plenty of enjoyably listenable moments and lots and lots of riffs. The guitar work on the album uses a mix of thrash, black, and death metal, each clearly definable by the tone and style of guitar playing. There are some really chuggy riffis and some pretty nifty noodling that happens on the album. The vocals are a mix of blackened thrash and death growls layered over top of each other, giving you a push/pull effect of sorts. Production is pretty decent and this is just a fun album to throw on when you're moving stuff around or just want something that's high energy.
