Monstrously catchy
Nervosa is another band taking part in the revivalist thrash scene. Hailing from Brazil, this band delivers aggressively groovy thrash with enough speed and pace to make a cop's radar gun explode in a malfunctioning rage. The riffs are monstrously catchy and almost impossible to get out of your head. While the guitars are typical thrash style, the speed and precision of the riffs is just incredible. The drums and bass lines also manage to keep up the frenetically frenzied pace throughout the album and provide a giant cloud of rhythmic beat downs. The vocals are one of my favorite parts--half screeched like black metal and half Steve Souza-like. They blend to add an extra uppercut to the stout skill set. The production on the album is exceptional, providing great tone on the strings and drums that sound organic as opposed to the industry standard program. Tracks "Victim of Yourself", "Death!" and "Twisted Values" are perfect to show you what the band is all about. They know their craft and I am really keeping an eye on them in the years to come.
