Tightly synced band using blazing riffs, melody and madness
Hailing from Alexandria Virginia, P:FF founders Tim Gutierrez and Kevin 131 found the perfect match for there sound with the addition of the remarkable Eric Forrest (E*Force/Voivod) to the fold. This trio created 10 tracks of chaotic thrash metal kind of like (early) Fear Factory meets Voivod coupled with those dark belted vocals of Forrest (watch out for the clean vox, "Scene Of The Crime", SWEET!).
The title track grabs you right up front with a sonic explosion of pounding bass and choppy riffs (found throughout). "Planet Dead" and "Highwire Act" are standouts sure to please any metal fan. The bone chilling "9mm Movie" and then "Long Silent Voices" with some great beakdowns using the piano. Venom fans take note this disc contains a killer version of "WARHEAD"!
What surprises me most is how one moment they can sound like Anathema or My Dying Bride and then bust out the tempo of a Dying Fetus song. Sure its been done before but I'm not sure as well as this. There is a barrage of instruments used on this album including violin, cello, piano and keyboards. P:FF is a tightly synced band using blazing riffs, melody and madness to create one devastating debut. The production and sound quality are superb, comparable to Devin Townsend or Fredrik Nordstrom. But it was self produced-- amazing.
