Paradise Lost drops another consistent gothic, doom metal monster
On Paradise Lost's fifteenth full-length album, 'Medusa', they continue down the gothic doom track that started back up with 2005's self-titled album. However, this time, they've dropped a lot of the clean production in favor for a gloomier, grittier sound, and it's definitely the right move for the music contained within. Although Gregor Mackintosh hit a home run earlier this year with the new Vallenfyre release, he still saved some of his heavy and doomier riffs for 'Medusa'. Nick Holmes does a great job evening out the clean and death vocals. Although 'Medusa' is not my favorite PL album, I'd have to say it's at least in the top 5.
