After a 17 year absence, In The Woods... returns with "Pure", the first album to feature new vocalist James Fogarty. While Fogarty is a solid vocalist, I found myself missing original singer Jan Transeth and his screams and shrieks. Musically, "Pure" is a continued progression of the bands sound and takes them further into the progressive metal direction the band had been following. Feeling more like Dream Theater with heavy synth work, ethereal guitars and plodding music, "Pure" was a huge letdown from a band that I had high hopes for on their return effort.
