Enslaved's latest release, Riitiir, follows in the bands avant garde black metal approach. There are hints of Opeth stylings on this album with traditional black metal elements also. The black metal vocals don't do much for me but overall the album is surprisingly intricate and well executed. The music is a combination of heavy, jazzy and folkish. The arrangements with strings and acoustic guitars combined with the clean vocals are really a breath of fresh air. The duality present presents an interesting element similar to good and evil. Definitely worth checking this one out.
