Progressive death metal that has beauty hidden within the chaos
When I see the term progressive/technical death metal mentioned as the sound, I tend to cringe a little. Most of these albums for me are just too damn spastic to really glean anything memorable from. With 'Underneath A Melting Sky', Inanimate Existence has given me something I can sink my teeth into. Meaty, hook-laden riffs mix with really beautiful, well thought out progressive passages with plenty of technical wizardry to satisfy any music lover. While the songs do get a little repetitive, Inanimate Existence does an admirable job mixing things up and keeping it unpredictable. The musicianship alone is worth giving this record a spin.
