Mule Skinner put on a clinic with their death grind sophomore effort
Within twenty seconds of hearing the opening track from Mule Skinner's sophomore album, 'Airstrike', I know it was going to be something special. Although it took them twenty two years to follow up to 1996's 'Abuse' album, they spew out 13 songs--about 33 minutes long--of masterful death/grind metal. Although these tracks are very simple in song structure, they contain some of the most brutal riffs and blast beats that I've ever heard. What really stands out is the production. The sound is extremely thick and loud and every aspect of this magnificent recording is magnified to the max. Songs such as "Suicide Vest", "Bone & Debris", "Sovereignty", and "Tactical Control" prove just how monstrous Mule Skinner is, despite being out of the recording game for over two decades. If you're a fan of death/grind, DO NOT pass on this unbelievable album!
