Potentially good album plagued by horrible production and mixing
It's rare that I write a negative review but sometimes it can't be helped. Ophe's 'Litteras Ad Tristia Maestrum Solitude' has the potential to be a good album, but unfortunately, the production and mixing make it almost unlistenable. For the first two songs, I could hardly tell there was any guitar as it is mixed extremely low amidst the loud and thunderous drum machines. Because of that, it's hard to gauge how technical (or well-written) the songs are. The only song that is listenable is "Cadent", an acoustic Opeth-like dirge that closes out the album. If this were remixed and re-produced again, I'd probably give it another spin.
