With the release of The Sachem's Tales, Dzö-nga have given us an album that feels like a split of Ulver's 'Bergtatt' and 'Kveldssanger'. You get these really magnificent classical and acoustic pieces layered with some Cascadian black metal riffs that really ping off each other. Lyrically, the album draws inspiration from Native American mythology, specifically from the Algonquins, which really lends some cool lyrical content to the album. I felt the black metal portion of the music took a backseat to the more mellow portions, which is fine but left me wanting a little more aggression.
